ALBW double drabble

The leaves were tough and thick, and huge, and bitter. Hard to get a good angle on them with a knife, so the only way you ate any was to kinda accordion-fold it up on your fork and cram it down. You'd be chewing for about thirteen years, and - it wasn't a rewarding experience.
"I've eaten nicer shoes," Ravio muttered. Sheerow sensibly declined the scraps offered to him. Princess Hilda raised her eyebrows; coming from her, that was practically hilarity. "Maybe if you dressed it really well?" he said, poking the rest of this alleged salad with his fork.
"You see my dilemma," said Her Grace. "I support the efforts of farmers to rejuvenate the land. I can't ask for better. However -"
"Land's not rejuvenated yet," said Ravio.
Hilda said ruefully, "And they're paying their taxes in wagonloads of lettuce."
"This is supposed to be lettuce?"
Hilda smiled faintly. "Has Hyrule spoiled you that badly? Was the food that much better over there?"
She had no idea. The food had been one of the hardest things to leave. But he smiled. "Nah. Didn't taste like home."
He looked down at the bowl again, and his courage wavered. "Texturally, though..."
