shinonETA 03/01: Edgar doing Edgar stuff; more Folk of the Air
Ace Attorney
1. Gumshoe, Edgeworth; Gumshoe gets a raise
Gumshoe held the pay stub aloft, staring at it in almost reverent wonder. "I could buy so many weenies."
"Detective" - Edgeworth thought up and promptly discarded three or four firm corrections to the priorities on display here, not wanting to shake Gumshoe's worldview too much at once - "you could buy kielbasa."
2. Gumshoe, Edgeworth; earthquakes
Gumshoe has this down to a science. For about fifteen minutes after the tremors end, Mr. Edgeworth is still kinda shaky and gray in the face and you gotta stick close to him in case he falls over, and then after half an hour he's gonna be really embarrassed (and you can't tell him not to be) and want a strong cup of tea, and then after an hour you gotta pretend nothing happened. And he's probably not gonna thank you, either, but he's a good guy at heart; Gumshoe is sure he's still grateful for the backup.
Final Fantasy VI
1. Edgar/Locke
They finally have a moment alone, and Edgar's gonna spend it - what, taking apart and rebuilding that crossbow for the eighty billionth time, like he doesn't know that every time he makes some super important little tweak it's just gonna need sighting in all over again? Locke rolls his eyes and starts making hardware disappear from the work table, little things here and there, until Edgar finally notices his tidy little rows of screws and springs are gone.
Locke leans over and says, "Whoa, how'd that happen, maybe you should have been paying attention to me" - and is surprised when Edgar grins back and pulls him in closer, like he planned the whole thing.
2. Terra, Edgar, Setzer
Terra wondered if she'd made a mistake inviting everyone to Mobliz; it was her home, and home to her growing family, and she loved it, but it didn't have the attractions of a big city, even diminished as cities were by the end of the world - and her concerns seemed to be validated when Edgar simply wandered off late one morning, returning in the afternoon only to grab Setzer by the arm and drag him away, too.
And yet they both looked happy when they returned in the evening - happy, and somehow devious.
"Nice mill you have out there," Setzer said casually, "it'd be a shame if someone were to get reckless and, say, double its efficiency."
3. Edgar, Sabin
"I don't know how you can possibly gag this stuff down," said Edgar, snapping the canister of tea leaves shut with a grimace. "It smells so ... so wholesome, it's frankly disgusting."
Sabin thought, And in all the time I was gone you didn't have the heart to throw it away, and you didn't let anybody else get rid of it either - but outwardly he just shrugged and said "Okay, more for me."
The Folk of the Air
1. Madoc (and it's also Homestuck)
Blood caste doesn't always breed true - else the children of humans could claim no place here - and in any case, Madoc has less use for it than most. Whomever he kills, over time the tidal lines on his cap average out to brown.
But Oriana pricks Oak's finger, lets the tiniest droplet of blood glisten there in the secrecy of Madoc's study, and he sees the next twenty years' battle plans written in that color.
2. Vivi/Heather (and it's not Homestuck at all this time)
This time around Heather has been warned about fairy food and fairy gifts; this time she's supplied with all the salt and iron and hidden charms and necklaces her hostesses could possibly force on her (plus one knife, courtesy Jude).
She doesn't know this isn't the first time, and she little suspects how intently all three sisters are staring at her; she is sauntering up to Vivi with a handful of pomegranate seeds, and she stops, grinning, and pops them into her mouth one by one.
She says, "Are you getting the symbolism here?" and Vivi loves her, and the red on her lips and teeth.

It's hard not to remember five Father's Days in prison; it's hard not to want to make up for lost time, even if Kamila won't know why.
"Dad," she says, with an exasperated laugh, while he helps rig up a piece of her latest contraption she's too short to get at unassisted, "I'm supposed to be doing nice things for you."
"You are."
