Fandom: Fire Emblem: Awakening
Characters: Panne/Olivia
Word count: ~300
Warnings: Fluff? 600% fluffier than I usually go?And implied fpreg, but if that's not part of the general FEA landscape, I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be.
Notes: I had grand ambitions of doing a bunch of treats for Fandom Stocking, but ultimately I wrote... one... and then forgot about it entirely until reveals. This was for
samuraiter!
Either emboldened or flustered by Panne's arm around her shoulder, Olivia said, “Do the taguel have any dances? I... I'd like to learn some.”
“I do not know if we did.”
“Oh, I'm sorry. I – I keep forgetting, I shouldn't ask you that kind of stuff -”
“Why not? I speak for all taguel. I am all taguel.” A thought flickered over Panne's face, but then she raised her chin. “I am nearly all taguel. And our sons will not speak against me. So, ask me: do I have any dances? And that will be the answer.”
“Fine. Do you have any dances, Panne?”
“No.”
Olivia laughed, and then wasn't sure whether she was supposed to be laughing, and then turned red, and then hid her face in Panne's chest. “It's so hard to tell when you're joking.”
“That was my intent.”
“Joking? Or making it hard to tell?”
“Yes.”
“Panne.”
Finally Panne relented. “There are certain drum rhythms that are compelling to me. I do not care to dance. But if I play them, and you dance the new story of our people...” She took in a breath, and let it out in a slow sigh. “It would be a fine thing.”
Olivia looked up at her – betrothed? Mate? Wife? They had just been getting to know each other, and then two noisy boys bearing Olivia's family jewelry and Panne's ears had appeared out of a blue sky, and everything had gotten very awkward very fast. But Panne didn't make her any more nervous than most people did. And as confusing as it was to stand in the presence of their children from another time – well, that meant that in another time, it worked out, didn't it? So it would work out now.
“It would. I – I'll be very happy to dance for you.”
