Burning the Years

Characters: Bertrand, Chloe
Word count: ~5700
Warnings: Strong language (and I know I always say that, but there's more of it and a greater variety than my usual); alcohol use; wow Bertrand is really hung up on death huh. I'm not sure how to warn for that last part appropriately. Dude just thinks about dying a lot
Notes: Dang, this is the longest thing I've written in a dog's age. It didn't feel that way while I was working on it, because it's... pretty disjointed. Nonetheless, I've tried to make it into one big thing with a coherent throughline. Starts out pre-canon, continues through somewhere in the fourth stratum.
