multifandomdrabble goes live. Meanwhile, one from Tumblr and one from nowhere in particular. ALL GRIEF, ALL THE TIME
“Be gentle,” he thinks of saying, half in jest. This place is holy - and an open wound. The click of her boots on the stairs hurts him.
He doesn’t say it. It wasn’t gentleness he loved in Daryl; it’s not gentleness he admires in the woman at his back. Where’s the fun in “gentle?” Where’s the risk?
At the bottom of this hole is the fastest ship in the world. All year he’s lingered, too weak to go to her, too weak to leave. Celes is behind him when he sees the Falcon again. Daryl never left.
She’s beautiful.
“Hey, Cyan, sorry if this is weird, but...”
“Sir Sabin. What troubles thee?”
“Y'know how, when you meditate over a magicite, you can kinda hear what it wants to teach you?” Sabin held out a crystal. “You – you might want this one.”
“What doth it tell?”
“Antidote. I just thought...”
For a second Cyan's face was wide open - you could see all the way through him. Sabin kept looking, though it hurt.
Then he closed off again. “Do thou keep it. Spare thy brother thy father's fate. What can such avail me now?”
