Three-sentence fic meme: ...everything other than ALBW
...Or, given the distribution of characters, I guess I could call this WEIRDO NERD BOY EDITION.
Herbert West
1. When he was still seeing living patients, West always projected to them an air of unshakable calm, and they seemed to take this as reassuring - a reflection of great thoughtfulness, modesty, and professionalism. Only I knew that this demeanor in truth concealed an absolute horror of the messier realities of human interaction. I saw him suppress a shudder at the outpouring of gratitude from a patient's husband and stare in aggrieved bewilderment at his fingers when subjected to a handshake.
2. His assistant fell over dead, and of course he knew precisely how to respond and conducted himself with aplomb. He injected the reagent and waited, two fingers on the man's pulse, and of course life gradually began to return. All this one could take as read, but afterward things became strange: he sank down next to the body and put his head in his hands, and could not seem to regulate his breathing properly; he considered administering a sedative so his assistant would not wake up to find him in this position.
3. The reagent worked, certainly, but he’d harbored no intention of subjecting it to such a rigorous trial so soon. It should have been many years more before it was necessary to use it like this; as he told his assistant, “I find it astonishing, and inconsiderate in the extreme, that you elected to die so young.”
The man was too heavily anaesthetised to respond, and after a time West got up, seized his notebook, and started listing criteria for the most important test to date:
-healthy adult males (n=several dozen?)
-preferably Anglo-Saxon origin (increased chance of similarity to initial subject)
-ages roughly 35-50
-WILL NOT BE MISSED.

Laurent spent the morning with the supply convoy, ostensibly to take inventory. Both Lucina and Gerome had asked for reports on the number and condition of their surplus weapons (and Gerome had further asked that nobody know he had asked for reports; otherwise he would have only made one copy and asked them to share). And it wasn't that he didn't take inventory - it was only that, after his inspection, he submitted a third report to Anna, helpfully enumerating all the damaged weapons he had disposed of to prevent any accidents, and the new organizational scheme he proposed for immediate implementation.
