Dialog meme: Raffles edition

Tumblr meme, yadda yadda. Another party supplies a line of dialog from off a list, I write short things. Two of these were Raffles things.

1. "You don't need to protect me"
"Where are you going?" I asked him, though by this time I knew better than to expect any useful answer.

Raffles did not disappoint, or, put another way, disappointed me completely. “It’s better you don’t know that just yet, my dear rabbit. All in good time.”

"You don’t need to protect me, you know. I could go with you. I could hold my own. You could at least trust me with -"

Raffles only laughed. “Why, who said anything about protecting you? You’re formidable enough, for a literary type. Those fists of yours aren’t limited to holding a pen, are they?”

"Then why can’t you tell me? Or is that all part of the evening’s amusements?" I snapped.

But it was too late. He had already climbed into position. “Stay just where you are, Bunny, and if anyone asks, tell them -” He paused, a wicked gleam coming into his eyes. “Actually, why don’t I leave that up to you? That should be good for a laugh.”

"I hate this game," I shouted after him as he jumped out the window and ran off into the night.

2. "I just want this"
I wished I knew who had introduced Raffles to the concept of “window shopping,” so that I could more accurately curse their name.

"I’d like that one," he said, "and a few dozen of those, I think - oh, and wouldn’t that look nice by the window -“

"I rather think you’re missing the point," I said.

"Oh, nonsense." He ran his arm through mine and propelled me along the row at his side. "The entire purpose is to look at things one has no intention of buying. I daresay I’ve followed that to the letter."

"And you’re casing every storefront we pass," I grumbled into my collar.

"All a part of the fantasy as well, Bunny - unless you sincerely expect me to find the time to rummage through an entire city block. No," he said as we came to a stop at the next window, "it’s an intellectual exercise only. With one exception." I followed his gaze through the glass of the display. "I just want this.
